The large field at the southwest corner of the intersection is mostly covered with a huge colony of greenthread that has turned the property yellow-orange. Across the street on the east side of Grand. Ave. Pkwy., adjacent to the school, is another field that has various native wildflowers: Indian blanket, prairie verbena, prairie bishop's weed, Texas star, Texas thistle, old plainsman.
